How to get to the venue

The conference takes place on the Campus of University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna, Austria (BOKU University), from September 11- 13, 2024.

BOKU University is located in the 19th District of Vienna around BOKU Universities main building Gregor Mendel Haus (MENH). The Seminar Buildings, Türkenwirt (TÜWI), Wilhelm Exner Haus (EXNH), Franz Schwackhöfer Haus (SCHW), and Ilse Wallentin Haus (ILWA), where the conference takes place, are located on the east side of the main building.

Transport to the conference venue

Arrival by public transportation in Vienna

Vienna has a very efficient public transportation system which consists of several integrated elements, including S-Bahn (train) and U-Bahn (subway), Tram (streetcar) and bus network. It covers the city of Vienna until the city boundaries.

Arrival by train outside Vienna

If you travel by train, you can use the Austrian Railway provider OBB to travel easily, comfortably and sustainably to the Tropentag conference. For booking options click here. The nearest train station 'Wien Krottenbachstraße' is a 12-minute walk away (950 meters) from the venue. From the main railway station 'Wien Hauptbahnhof' take the lines R3, REX 3, S1, S2 or S3 to ‘Handelskai’. From there transfer into S45 that stops at ‘Wien Krottenbachstraße’. Now you can walk to the conference venue (12 min.).

Arrival by plane

The VIE Vienna International Airport is located approximately 26 km away from the conference venue. Vienna has international connections with all the main cities of Europe and with all further continents. We recommend taking the train from the airport to the city center.
When you arrive at the Vienna International Airport (Wien-Schwechat) you will be in the Bundesland (Federal State) of Lower Austria, about 15 kilometres south of Vienna. Further information about the airport is available online: viennaairport.com/en.
