Transport to the conference venue

Arrival by public transportation

Berlin has a very efficient public transportation system which consists of several integrated elements, including S-Bahn (train) and U-Bahn (subway), Tram (streetcar) and a bus network. It covers the city of Berlin and 15 kilometres beyond the city boundaries.
There are three ticket zones:

  • Zone A - central parts of the city
  • Zone B - outer parts of Berlin city
  • Zone C - beyond the city boundaries

You find the nearest stations for train (S-Bahn), subway (U-Bahn), bus or Tram to the conference venue here.
More information about the tickets, fares and route maps in Berlin can be found here.
You will find additional information on public transportation on night here.

If you need information about taxi companies, you will find more information here.

Arrival by train

If you travel by train, you can use the DB event ticket. With the DB event ticket you can travel easily, comfortably and sustainably to the Tropentag on 19-22 September 2023. Here you will find information and booking options: www.zalf.de/db-event-ticket.

The nearest train station 'Friedrichstrasse' is a 8-minute walk away (400 meters). From the main railway station 'Hauptbahnhof' take the S-Bahn lines S3, S5, S7 or S75 which stop at 'Friedrichstraße'. Now you can walk to the conference venue (8 min.) or you take the Tram (streetcar) line 12 or M1 from 'Friedrichstraße' to the last stop 'Kupfergraben' (2 stops).
