\textbf{Abstract}

Re"=vegetation of tree species using industrial and municipal waste water may not only helps to minimise the use of fresh water as irrigation source but also can secure our precious foreign exchange spent on the import of wood and wood products. In a pot study combined effect of industrial and municipal effluent on the growth, biomass production and nutrient composition of \textit{Azadirachta indica} and Dalbergia sissoo was investigated. The study was conducted at the experimental area Dept. of Forestry, University of Agriculture, Faisalabad, Pakistan. Five treatments comprising varying degrees of canal water and effluent combinations (\mbox{100\,\%} canal water, \mbox{75\,\%} canal water + \mbox{25\,\%} waste water, \mbox{50\,\%} canal water + \mbox{50\,\%} waste water, \mbox{25\,\%} canal water + \mbox{75\,\%} waste water and \mbox{100\,\%} waste water) were applied to the two tree species (\textit{Azadirachta indica} and Dalbergia sissoo) seedlings. The experiment was laid out in completely randomised design (CRD) with factorial arrangement having four replications. Higher effluent concentration manifested decrease in parameters regarding the biomass production. The reduction in shoot and root fresh \& dry weight was almost half under the application of \mbox{100\,\%} effluent as compared to the control while the nutrient concentration were higher in the seedlings grown with higher effluent concentrations. In both the tree species Fe+2 up take was greatest under all the concentrations of effluent. The uptake of Cd, Cr and Mn increased with the increasing concentration of effluent. NPK contents were found higher in Delbergia sissoo seedling while trace elements were observed higher in Azadrachta indica.}
