The Hyrcnian Forests of Iran are located in north of Iran, near the Caspian Sea. These forestlands are completely natural broadleaves forests the biodiversity is quite high with more than 130 three species. These forests cover about 1.8 million hectares and are situated on steep terrains of the Alborz Mountain. Forest harvesting operations carrying out only in these forests while all other forests known as no"=commercial forests. The sustainable forest management project has been started since last 10 years with objective of attention to some other forest potentials instead of timber production. In this project, rural people who are living near to these forestlands encouraged to participate in forest management activities by supporting of government. As all of these forests are state forests, rural people by establishing of forest cooperative and private companies can have a long term contract (10 years) with the Iranian Forestry Management Board for conservation, restoration and harvesting operations. Following to these new strategies, not only forestland reduced, but partnership of rural people on forest activities have been increased and living situation of these people developed. All tree selected for cutting will be chosen by foresters. The data collected from all forest companies that are following in this project show, after 10 years, the harvesting operations have been reduced to \mbox{50\,\%}, ecotourism activities, fisheries and by"=products have been increased \mbox{45\,\%}, \mbox{28\,\%} and \mbox{30\,\%} respectively. 



The new strategies of the Iranian Forestry Management Board for the Hyrcanian Forests of Iran during last decade will be discussed in this paper.
