Seed of ten accessions of \textit{C.~quinoa} Willd. were obtained from USDA-ARS and sown under three climatic regimes of Punjab province of Pakistan during spring 2009. Quinoa crop was selected because of its extreme tolerance to abiotic stresses like salinity, frost, drought and nutrient deficiencies, emerging issues contributing to food and water scarcity in the Indus plane. High water and nutrient requirements of the conventional cereals and increasing climatic adversities has lead to alternatives among which crops like quinoa with high nutritive value is found to be one viable option. Quinoa accessions were grown at Faisalabad, Bahawalpur and Chakwal stations. Under Faisalabad conditions, accessions: Ames 13730 (25P), Ames 13737 (161R), PI 634919 (Pichaman) and PI 596293(Colorado 407D) performed excellently in respect of emergence and agronomic traits i.e. speed and spread of emergence; plant height, No. of leaves, No. of panicles, leaf area, biological yield and economic yield. Whereas, other accessions i.e. PI 478410 (R-66), PI 510537 (Koito Jaira, Aymara), PI 510540 (Jacha Naka Jaro Joira), PI 510542 (Villa Juira, Aymara), PI 614922 (Sayana) and PI 643079 (Pasankalla) could not respond well to the climate of all of the above mentioned regions except PI 510537 (Koito Jaira, Aymara) which performed successfully under Chakwal conditions only. In Bahawalpur, though some germination was seen but none of the accessions could survive beyond seedling stage.  



Hence, cultivation of some quinoa accessions as spring crop was found feasible under Pakistani conditions in selected subtropical regions with occasional very cool spells which can supplement the staple grains especially under climatic adversities to ensure future food security.
