The nutritive value of sweet potato tuber meal (SPM) and sweet potato tops (SPT) as replacement for maize and wheat bran respectively was evaluated in a trial. Ninety growing pullets were used for the trial which lasted for 70 days. SPM replaced maize at 0, 50 and \mbox{100\,\%} levels. The dietary treatments significantly ($p < 0.05$) reduced the feed intake. Birds on the diet with the partial replacement of maize had the highest body weight gain. Birds on the complete replacement of maize diet recorded the least weight gain. Dry matter, crude protein, crude fibre and ether extract digestibility of the growers were all significantly ($p < 0.05$) affected by the dietary treatments. Cost analysis revealed that SPM was a valuable ingredient in the diet of growing pullets with an economic advantage, as growers on these diets were the cheapest at the end of the feeding trial. Sexual maturity was however delayed by two weeks in growers fed the sweet potato based diet. Mortality on the completely replaced maize diet was highest. The dietary treatments for the replacement of wheat bran did not have any significant ($p > 0.05$) effect on the feed intake of the birds. However, the body weight gain was significantly ($p < 0.05$) affected. Dry matter, crude protein, crude fibre and ether extract digestibilities were all significantly ($p < 0.05$) affected by the dietary treatment. The feed cost per kilogram gain indicated that the cheapest ration was the \mbox{100\,\%} replaced wheat bran diet followed by the control. The trial was conducted using the completely randomised experimental design.}
