\textbf{Abstract}
\begin{abstract}
\normalsize{
The germination test is widely accepted and frequently used as quality indicator of a seed lot. This test determines the percentage of viable seeds in a sample that have potential to germinate and produce normal seedlings under favourable conditions. The yield of viable and vigorous seed is an important goal for seed producers. Environmental stress such as water limitation during growth and development plants can affect subsequent seed quality. Although evidence indicates the water limitation decrease yield and yield components in many crops, little information has been published regarding its effects on seed quality. This research in order to assessment effects drought stress and planting dates applied on original plant, on its seeds by standard germination test, was performed in Seed Technology Laboratory of the Department of Agronomy and Plant Breeding of College of Aboureyhan in Pakdasht during spring 2008. Standard germination test was accomplished with 20 treatments and 3 replications. These 20 treatments were the seeds of 5 cultivars of canola (Licord, Opera, Modena, Elite, Sarigol), 2 levels of planting dates (First half October and first half November) and 2 levels of irrigation (80 mm evaporation from class A pan and drought stress from stem elongation stage) which in year 2006--2007 had been cultivated in a factorial split plot based on RCBD. In laboratory Standard germination test (2008): Final Germination Percentage (FGP), Mean Time to Germination (MTG), Mean Daily Germination (MDG), and Daily Germination Speed (DGS) were measured. Based on the laboratory results, the cultivar of Sarigol due to higher Final Germination Percentage, Mean Daily Germination and lower Daily Germination Speed had higher seed quality.}
