\textbf{Abstract}
\begin{abstract}
\normalsize{
Khamin protected area with \mbox{25\,586\,ha}, semiarid climatic conditions and mean annually rainfall of 650 mm, mean annually temperature of 16 Cº is located between latitudes 30º 30´ north and longitudes 50º 55´ east on Southwest of Iran. The area is gained of an ecotone condition and rural agricultural system was developed along the predominant oak forest. One of the main characteristics of the area is abandoned rural systems due to severely migration of farmers in the last two decades towards near urban zones. Harsh mountainous climate, difficulty of irrigation practices and soaring slopes have affected modern agricultural practices in the region. The remained farmers have converted their local adaptive farms to monoculture systems of rice that resulted to diminishing of agrobiodiversity. A fieldwork survey was carried out to investigate socioeconomic characteristics of farmers as well as agricultural biodiversity of the area. Five villages were selected randomly within protected area. Direct observation and semi"=structured questionnaire were employed to collect data in April/September 2008. Altogether 56 species were found in the study area which was classified based on farmer's perception. Main crops in the region were local cultivars of dryland grape (\textit{Vitis vinifera} L.), fig (\textit{Ficus caria} L.), wheat (\textit{Triticum aestivum} L.), barley (\textit{Hordeum vulgare} L.), lentil (\textit{Lens culinaris} L.) and irrigated pomegranate (\textit{Punica granatum} L.), rice (\textit{Oryza sativa} L.) and sweet lemon (\textit{Citrus limon} (L.) Burm. f.). The species richness was varied from 1--14 in different homegardens of study area. Shannon-Wiener index was determined species diversity in different homegardens of villages. It was varied from 1.62 to 2.5 for vegetables and from 0 to 2.14 for fruits. Results of study revealed that animal husbandry was the first source of income of households (\mbox{39\,\%}), followed by field activities (\mbox{25\,\%}) and horticultural practices (\mbox{14\,\%}). Homegardens were produced only \mbox{2\,\%} of total income of households. The results of this study showed that socioeconomic condition of the region has diminished due to lack of infrastructures for developing and applying suitable tools for sustainable land management}
