\textbf{Abstract}

This study focused on the effect of the value added generated from processing gum arabic and its influence on both local and world markets, besides fulfilment of the international standards. The main objective of the study is to estimate the value added from gum processing, the feasibility of such activity and determination of the main constraints and problems that face gum processing. Three pioneer companies located in different parts of the Sudan and exemplifying local and international gum trade institutions were selected for the purpose of the study. These are Warm Seas Factory in North Kordofan State (private company) and Gum Arabic Company factories in Gezira State (Hashab Factory) and Port Sudan Gum Processing Factory. Primary data was collected through personal interviews with key"=informants as well as personal observations by means of digital devices. Secondary data was obtained from scientific sources, references and records of relevant institutions. The Partial Budget was used as a statistical tool for calculating the value added of gum processing. The study found that the value added from processed gum in form of mechanical powder ranges from US\$ 135, 90 and 61 for Warm Seas Company, Hashab Factory and Port Sudan Gum Processing Factory respectively. With respect to kibbled gum, the value added was found to be US\$ 105 for Warm Seas Company, 65 for Hashab Factory and 84 for Port Sudan Gum Processing Factory. The study concluded that gum processing generates a considerable positive value added compared to marketing raw gum.  Also, it is proved that gum processing activity creates employment opportunities for economically poor people, in particular women sector. The study recommends exporting of processed gum and protection of local manufacturers at different levels, besides, involvement of quality control in all steps of exported gum}
